What is it?
Jolt Sensor readings will now be sent every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes.
Why does it matter?
Sending messages less frequently results in a significant (~30%) increase in battery life. Less battery changes per sensor over the life of your sensors = Less work for Jolt Sensor Customers.
How does it work?
We are finding a better balance between having enough data to reap all the benefits of Sensors and preserving battery life. After a lot of research and testing, we have found that 20 minutes is more than frequent enough to provide all the benefits (Increased Food Safety & Quality, Inventory protection, Reduced Labor Costs, etc) and this change will result in extended battery life.
Graphs and data tables on the web will be updated first to support the change and then sensors will be updated remotely. As long as your sensor is connected to the internet through a Jolt gateway, no work necessary on your part! This change will be rolled out gradually but we expect all sensors to be updated by the end of 2022.
*Note that the change in interval and extended battery life applies to Jolt LoRaWAN Sensors and not the legacy Bluetooth sensors.
