paid breaks

In Utah we are also required to give anyone under the age of 16 a 10-minute paid break if working more than 3 consecutive hours and one 30 minute unpaid break if working 4 hours or more. With the current Jolt time clock we are able to have employees clock out of their unpaid break but we have no way to document their unpaid breaks, and we currently have to manually add in ten minutes to each of their shifts when preparing payroll. As mentioned in the other comments in this thread we really really need two clock out options: a paid break, or an unpaid break.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Is everyone who voted on here looking to track unpaid breaks? If so, we can merge this with another post so that all the feedback related to unpaid breaks is in the same place.
If anyone needs paid breaks, there is a separate post for that as well where you can comment and vote

Michael:I cannot find the paid break post, but we need this feature. We require punch in/out for breaks so we can ensure state law compliance, however, we pay them for the breaks. Under the current restrictions, we have to manually check each employee after the export and then add the time deducted back in. This is time consuming and creates opportunity for error.

Michael: I cannot find the Paid Break post you are referencing. I would like employees during their shift to be able to clock out and in for a paid break. I believe this is most important for minors - in Ohio they are the only ones required to have a break based on their age and length of shift.
Our prior time tracking platform could accommodate this. With this platform we had 2 break options: Break and Meal Break. We were able to customize if they were unpaid or paid. If they were paid we were able to provide a maximum length of time they were paid. We used them both as paid, Break was a 5 minute max and Meal Break was a 30 minute max. After the max length of paid time the break was unpaid until they clocked back in.

Since we do not pay for dinner or cigarette breaks not having this feature makes the time clock feature unusable for us. The scheduling part of the software is second to none! just wish we could use the time clock in conjunction with it.
